In this post I wanted to talk about Mirvaso Gel, the good the bad and the ugly should you ever want to try it. I am in no WAY recommending this cream to ANYONE, in fact, this post will be more of a warning due to my personal experience with it and well this is a warning….I don’t want you to try it.

So I may have mentioned that I have used creams to help reduce the redness on my face, the cream I used Mirvaso Gel worked great it was like a miracle cure had I found the ONE!!!!!
So let me describe what Mirvaso Gel is…
Mirvaso is a product that seems to be MOSTLY used by Rosacea sufferers, which is a similar condition to our severe blushing. Rosacea is a long-term condition, it is found on central parts of the face but it is a more persistent redness the patient tends to blush more easily with more visible blood vessels. In fact there are four main types of Rosacea, Erythematotelangiectatic rosacea, Papulopustular rosacea, Phymatous rosacea, and Ocular rosacea.
Mirvaso Gel was intended to treat Rosacea sufferers my condition is similar to Erythematotelangiectatic rosacea which is redness, flushing with visible blood vessels which is more akin to flushing.
MIRVASO GEL WHAT IS IT AND WHAT DOES IT DO?
Ok so Mirvaso brimonidine topical gel, 0.33 is an alpha-adrenergic used for the topical treatment of Rosacea, this product is the first and only treatment approved by the FDA for persistent facial redness or Rosacea. Mirvaso Gel works by working on the Alpha receptors in the blood vessels that appear in the face. The blood vessels are forced to narrow by the Gel thus reducing the blood flow.
Mirvaso claims that it is a fast and effective treatment with results that can last up to 12 hours depending on the patient, Mirvaso Gel is ONLY a temporary treatment for a red face the symptoms you are suffering from during treatment will be greatly reduced but remember it won’t cure your facial flushing. The redness will return to your face once the effects of the Brimonidine Gel wears off.
There is a common reaction that has been reported by many patients, and this is what is referred to as rebound flushing, where after the Gel wears off the skin appears redder than before and the skin can appear to suffer a burning sensation.
MY EXPERIENCE WITH MIRVASO GEL
Ok so I read about Mirvaso on a popular Rosacea forum here, I did read about reactions other patients had reported but I either didn’t listen or didn’t care I wanted to try this bad boy out. I had only read the positives about it, NOONE was going to tell me this ain’t your medical cure son!!!!!!!
Mirvaso is expensive and doctors don’t like giving out the prescription, but given my medical history Dr Mengele put it on prescription for me ( I kid you not my doctor is called Mengele, he was the angel of death if you didn’t know 🙁 )
So I rushed to my local chemists clutching my golden ticket to a red face free zone, only to be told Mirvaso Gel had to be ordered in.
TWO DAYS WENT BY!!!!!!!
Finally, it’s at the chemist’s I rushed down the road and picked up my shiny new tube of Mirvaso the cure we had all been searching for.
At the time I was really suffering, my face I could only describe as being as red as a tomato it really was bad. So I applied a pea-sized amount of Gel to my fingers and applied it lightly to my most affected areas cheeks, nose, forehead and chin. It felt soothing pretty much like when applying my favourite cooling moisturiser.
Waited for a little and if by magic it started to happen my face started to reduce in redness and it just kept going until I virtually had no redness. Oh god, this is great the cure I’ve FINALLY found the cure I don’t care if it’s not a permanent cure I’m pale, I look normal.
I was so happy!!!!
I started using the Mirvaso Gel every morning as part of my red face routine, every time I went pale people at work were giving me a second look telling me I looked different more relaxed my complexion was looking great.
After all these years the feeling was indescribable, all the years of that red face holding me back gone in an instant every single emotion came flooding out of me I was freeeeee of the red face curse free to enjoy life on my terms again. Life was fabulous again just for a few weeks it was fabulous.
Then it happened!!!!!!
One day I got home, I looked in the mirror I was as red as a tomato again, this can’t be I only put the gel on a few hours ago. In a panic I read up on the Mirvaso use and found I could apply a second amount of pea-sized gel to my face in one day. So I applied a second amount and gradually my face returned to that lovely pale shade that I was growing accustomed to.
But something still didn’t feel right. my face felt like it was burning on fire although it was pale. I had to adhere to a new routine of two applications per day every morning I woke up my face was feeling hotter and looking more red than before I started using the Mirvaso Gel. When the Gel wore off into the evening again my face would feel like it was burning and look redder than it’s ever been.
I revisited the forums to see if I could find out what was happening to me, and sure enough, there were threads upon threads of negative reports about the use of Mirvaso Gel. The most common complaint was exactly what I had been suffering and it was typically known is rebound flushing. After a lot of reading with MASSIVE regret I decided to stop using the Mirvaso Gel, I felt like I was doing more damage to the blood vessels in my face so I stopped.
I was gutted the miracle cure that I had enjoyed for the last month was no more it was back to the drawing board.
THE ROAD TO MIRVASO RECOVERY
On the Mirvaso official website, it states that some patients had reported a worsening of their symptoms after using the Gel but on the forums, there does seem to be a BIG problem. Although I’m still confident this product is safe to use or it wouldn’t be FDA approved.
After stopping using the Brimonidine Gel I spent many months where the usual triggers would send me into days of total redness, like permanent sunburn.
My face was really hot all the time, my beta-blockers were not working my ears were burning it was just horrible a total nightmare.
Literally, a year later my face felt like it did before I used the Mirvaso Gel back to what my baseline red used to be. Of course, I now have the combination of my miracle track hypnosis, my panic away product and my beta-blockers, which has helped reduce my redness by up to 90%.
I’m not telling you not to use Mirvaso Gel it may well have sorted out the rebound redness some patients were suffering, and also in terms of positive usage and the negative reports on forums how many people have ACTUALLY experienced a negative reaction?
But for me, I’m too scared to use Mirvaso Gel again after the year it took me to get back what it was before the Gel.
